Using the same supervisor modules and line cards from the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series, the Cisco Catalyst 6503 offers maximum investment protection and broadens the deployment options of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 in the wiring closet, distribution, core, data center, and WAN edge.
The new 3-slot Cisco Catalyst 6503-E Switch chassis offers a compact 4 rack-unit height and provides centralized network architecture through simplified operations that is ideally suited for multi-Gbps secure data centers, remote access, e-commerce, and converged network solutions. The Cisco Catalyst 6503-E supports Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series end-to-end operational consistency benefits. Any two Cisco Catalyst 6500E series Switches with Supervisor Engine 720-3C/720-3CXL/S2T-10G/S2T-10G-XL can be pooled together into a VSS, the Chassis delivers up to 180 Gbps per-slot bandwidth and will be capable of delivering up to 8 Tbps of system bandwidth.
The chassis offers superior investment protection by supporting all the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Supervisor Engines and associated LAN, WAN, and services modules.
