The Cisco GLC-SX-MMD is a trusted and widely deployed SFP transceiver designed for Gigabit Ethernet over multimode fiber (MMF). Operating at 850 nm, it supports distances of up to 550 meters over OM2/OM3 fiber, making it the go-to solution for short-range fiber links inside buildings and campus networks.
A key advantage of this module is its DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) support—signaled by the “D” in its part number. DOM provides real-time monitoring of optical power levels, voltage, and temperature, helping IT teams proactively diagnose link issues and maintain uptime.
This genuine Cisco SFP is fully hot-swappable, drawing low power, and supports a commercial extended temperature range (–5 °C to 85 °C). Compliant with IEEE 802.3z and SFP MSA, it ensures seamless compatibility across Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ASR, and ISR devices.
